Prepare the Bread
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan, or line with parchment paper leaving an overhang on the long sides.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- In a separate medium mixing bowl, whisk together the egg, whole milk, 1/4 cup melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir with a rubber spatula just until combined and no dry streaks of flour remain. Be careful not to overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. The top should be golden brown.
- Remove the loaf from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before carefully transferring it to a wire rack.
Coat with Cinnamon Sugar
- While the bread is cooling slightly, prepare the cinnamon sugar coating. In a small bowl, whisk together the 1/2 cup granulated sugar and ground cinnamon.
- In another small bowl, melt the remaining 1/2 cup of unsalted butter.
- Once the bread is warm but cool enough to handle, brush all sides generously with the melted butter. Immediately roll or sprinkle the bread with the cinnamon sugar mixture, ensuring an even coating on all sides.
- Allow the Cinnamon Sugar Donut Bread to cool completely on the wire rack before slicing and serving. This helps the coating set.
