- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
- Spread the bread cubes evenly in the baking dish and scatter the cream cheese cubes throughout.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the milk, cream, eggs, sugars, melted butter, cocoa powder, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
- Pour the chocolate custard evenly over the bread and gently press down to help it absorb the liquid.
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the top and let rest for 10 minutes.
- Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes, until the center is set but still soft and the top is lightly crisp.
- Cool for 10 minutes before serving and dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Serve warm for the best gooey texture. This dessert pairs beautifully with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
