Cookie Bars
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg large
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup milk
Frosting
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • pink or red food coloring
  • Valentine sprinkles for decoration

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  5. Gradually mix in dry ingredients, then add milk until a soft dough forms.
  6. Press dough evenly into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 18–22 minutes until lightly golden. Cool completely.
  8. Beat butter for frosting until smooth, then add powdered sugar.
  9. Mix in milk, vanilla, and food coloring. Spread frosting over cooled bars and decorate with sprinkles.
  10. Slice into bars or heart shapes and serve.

Notes

These bars can be cut into hearts using a cookie cutter for an extra festive Valentine’s Day touch.
