Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract; mix until fully incorporated.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until a soft dough forms.
- Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips evenly.
- Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness.
- Cut out heart-shaped cookies and transfer them to the prepared baking sheets.
- Gently press mini chocolate chips onto the tops of the cookies for decoration.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden and centers are set.
- Cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For cleaner heart shapes, chill the dough for 15 minutes before rolling and cutting.
