Method
Prepare the Filling
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, thawed and drained corn, crumbled bacon, sliced green onions, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined and uniform.
Assemble the Bites
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unroll one can of crescent roll dough onto your prepared baking sheet. Do not separate the triangles; keep it as a rectangular sheet. Press the seams together firmly to seal any perforations, creating a solid rectangle. Repeat with the second can of crescent roll dough on the same baking sheet, placed slightly apart from the first.
- Evenly spread half of the cream cheese filling mixture over one crescent dough rectangle, leaving a small border around the edges. Repeat with the remaining filling on the second crescent dough rectangle.
- Starting from one of the longer sides, carefully roll up each crescent dough rectangle tightly into a log. Using a sharp knife, cut each log into 12 even slices, approximately 1-inch thick.
- Place the cut slices, swirl-side up, on the prepared baking sheet. Lightly brush the tops of the bites with the beaten egg wash, if using, and sprinkle with Everything Bagel Seasoning, if desired.
Bake and Serve
- Bake for 14-16 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- Let the Iowa Party Bites cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a serving platter. Serve warm.
Notes
For best results, ensure cream cheese is fully softened to avoid lumps in the filling. You can prepare the filling ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Leftover party bites can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in the oven or air fryer.
