Ingredients

For the Dough
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour plus more for dusting
  • 2 tsp Baking powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil plus extra for drizzling
  • 3/4 cup Warm water or a little more, as needed

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spatula or Wooden Spoon
  • Rolling pin
  • Baking sheet or pizza stone

Method

Prepare the Oven and Dry Ingredients
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating. Lightly grease a baking sheet or dust with flour/cornmeal.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk briefly to ensure all dry ingredients are well distributed.
Mix and Knead the Dough
  1. Add the olive oil and warm water to the dry ingredients. Stir with a spatula or wooden spoon until a shaggy dough begins to form.
  2. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead for 3-5 minutes until the dough comes together into a relatively smooth, elastic ball. It might be slightly sticky, but shouldn't stick excessively to your hands.
Shape and Top Your Pizzas
  1. Divide the dough into two equal portions. On a lightly floured surface, use a rolling pin to roll each portion into a 10-12 inch circle, or your desired pizza shape and thickness.
  2. Carefully transfer each dough circle to your prepared baking sheet or hot pizza stone. Drizzle a little extra olive oil around the crust edges if desired.
  3. Add your favorite pizza sauce, cheese, and toppings.
Bake and Serve
  1. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly. Cooking time may vary depending on your oven and chosen toppings.
  2. Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, slice, and serve immediately. Enjoy your quick homemade pizza!

Notes

For an extra crispy crust, you can par-bake the dough for 5-7 minutes before adding toppings. This dough is best used immediately. It doesn't store well due to the baking powder losing its leavening power over time. Feel free to experiment with herbs like garlic powder or dried oregano in the dough for added flavor!
