Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs large
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • fresh strawberries for decoration

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a round cake pan.
  2. Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  4. Slowly pour in the hot water while stirring until well combined.
  5. Gently fold in the chopped strawberries.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 35–40 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let the cake cool completely before removing from the pan.
  8. Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  9. Melt the dark chocolate chips and drizzle over the cooled cake.
  10. Top with whipped cream and fresh strawberries before serving.

Notes

For extra indulgence, slice the cake in half and add a layer of whipped cream and strawberries in the middle.
