Method
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
- Toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch until evenly coated.
- Spread the apple mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fingers until crumbly.
- Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes until the topping is golden and the apples are bubbling.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
- Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream.
Notes
Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples work especially well. Leftovers can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
